Global Operator of Warehouse and Freight Management Facilities

Consulting Objectives

The client engaged TCG Consulting to assess its corporate travel and payment programs for all global business units, and to provide conclusive recommendations for global consolidation and improvement.

Idea/Strategy

TCG consultants first identified opportunities that would better leverage and improve upon the existing corporate travel program. Primarily, TCG determined that by consolidating programs across business units, its client could realize significant service enhancements and annual savings. The team also explored forming a global Travel Council to assist with implementation, communication, training and management of regional programs. Together, these various regional programs comprise the global travel program.

Tactics/Tools

  • On-site assessment and project findings
  • Program overview
  • Business Unit comparison matrix
  • Benchmarking to best-in-class global programs
  • Enterprise summary
  • Opportunities
  • Recommendations

Results

Implementation of TCG’s recommended improvements continue as of August 2006. The team anticipates the following results: one global travel policy for all business units; either one global travel agency or three regional agencies; and mandated usage of a corporate travel credit card and corporate-approved preferred suppliers. Projected first year savings are 17% from current T&E budget. ROI estimates are 23:1.
