The Carbrey Award

Established by TCG Consulting in 2009, the Carbrey Award recognizes travel industry colleagues/personnel for excellence in corporate travel management. The first award recipient (and namesake) was Mike Carbrey, who received his award in December 2009, during his last year of work in the industry before retiring.

Albert Taras, Managing Partner of TCG Consulting says of Mike: “Mike’s accomplishments will be long felt by those he has worked with. His leadership, vision and trust have helped shape the teams and programs he worked with. The benefits of his direction are still being realized and will continue well into the future. The industry recognizes and respects his integrity, professionalism and willingness to shift paradigms.”

In 2010 the search was on for someone within the travel industry that exemplified the same sense of leadership, vision and teamwork as Mike Carbrey. Several nominees were considered, and Michelle Osterhaus, Global Travel Services Manager at Marathon Oil in Houston, Texas was selected as the 2010 winner.

The 2011 Carbrey Award winner is Darcy Taylor. Darcy is the Director, Travel Services for KBR in Houston, Texas. TCG’s Managing Partner, Albert Taras was able to surprise Darcy in her office to present her award in person, surrounded by colleagues. Darcy was the clear winner in a group of outstanding nominees.

The next Carbrey Award will be awarded in December, 2012, and Mike Carbrey, Michelle Osterhaus, and Darcy Taylor will be a part of the committee for the nomination and selection process.
